"The Oso Margarita"

"Give me the recipe for 'Oso Margaritas', YOU BASTARD!!!"

Oso here. While I did not create this margarita, I was the one that reccomended it to Jim. For some strange reason, whenver he sets into a night of drinking "Oso Margaritas", he feels compelled to email me a thank you ;-). Try one for yourself:

(according to the creator of this margarita)
"After many years of patient formulation, experimentation, observation, reformulation, etc., I have finally settled down upon what my wife and I consider the benchmark margarita. While others may prefer different proportions, preparation, or ingredients, if you are a guest at our home, more than likely this will be the house drink of preference."

Ingredients:

1/4 lime wedge
2 oz. tequila (e.g., Jose Cuervo Gold)
1 oz. Triple Sec (Trader Joe's highly recommended)
3 oz. Jose Cuervo Margarita Mix
2 t Sauza Commemorativo
salt
ice (cracked or cubes)
Procedure:

"Slit the lime wedge so that the serving glass can be swirled through the slit. Salt the rim of the serving glass. (Optional for those desiring no salt.) Fill a cocktail shaker 2/3 full with ice. Squeeze the remainder of the juice of the lime wedge into the shaker; reserve the wedge. Measure the remainder of the ingredients into the shaker. Shake vigorously for around 1 minute. ('Shaken, not stirred' -- or blended. Perhaps James Bond was on to something!) Strain shaker contents into serving glass. Fill glass with fresh ice and reserved lime wedge. Float some good quality tequila on top. Our current method calls for Sauza Commemorativo, although Cuervo 1800 or equivalent works well also.

"Please note that in the above recipe, two factors are critical: the ingredient proportions (e.g., 2:1:3), and the use of quality Margarita Mix. For my taste buds, the Cuervo mix is the best that I've tried. Note also that I don't like 'slushys'. I like my margaritas 'on the rocks!'"
