"Hell, This Town's Gonna Kill Me..."

(...or "There's nothing like an early night, and this is nothing like an early night")

The story so far. Your gentle scribe, having relocated to the sweaty sprawling traffic choked city that is Kuala Lumpur, is living in a hotel. Now, as we all know, you can go a bit crazy living in a hotel. So friday night I end up jamming with the band in the hotel bar. Bluffing my way through some old songs, and falling into bed at about 4am.

Saturday I go to free booze loaded opening party of a Bar. End up falling down a badly covered storm drain on the way back to the hovel. OK, so I only went down it up to the hip and ended up bleeding in a couple of places. I've really got to learn to look where I'm putting my feet in this town, the pavaments are down right dangerous and not at alll condusive to drunken stumbling.

Sunday night I bump into one of the girls from the bar band and a couple of crazy Aussies. We end up trawling round a few bars and clubs 'till the 1am curfew forces a return to the Hotel.

Monday night I niup into the bar for a quick one. Guess what, 12:30am see's me half cut and blasting out Smoke on the water with the bar band again. Fall into bed at 1:30am.

Are we beginning to recognise some sort of pattern here?

Last night I dive in for a celebratory beer having finally managed to overcome the vagueries of the Malaysian telephone system and contact my gf who's still in Hong Kong. This time it "Still got the Blues" that they get me playing at about 1am.

Then I make the mistake of agreeing to go along for a bite to eat with the two Aussies and three of the band.

3am finds us standing by the side of the street in what laughingly passes for KL's Red Light District. Every tried to flag down a cab when surrounded by street walkers? Hmmm.... I'm amazed we didn't get nicked for soliciting.

Anyhow, here I am at work, not hung over but extremely knackered after a grand total of 7 hours sleep in two nights.

I am *not* doing it again tonight ;)
