Q: What is a drinking accent?
A: A drinking accent is the accent a drunken bastard uses when he drinks.
While normally people just slur their speech, some drunken bastards
have a separate accent when they drink.
Q: How does it work?
A: As one drinks, their inhibitions are lowered. :) As a result, like how
people try to sing, some will either revert to their original accent (if
they moved) or one they picked up. As a result, drinking accents can
be one of 2 types, depending on the exact configuration of the drunken
bastard.
Q: Please explain further.
A: If say a New Yorker moves to Chicago, he will get self concious and
try to lose his accent. The problem is he never completely loses it.
When the drunken bastard drinks, he stops trying to hide his accent,
and his original accent comes out in full force. This type of
naturally occuring drinking accent is by far more common than the talent
type.
The other type, the talent type is rare. This type is used by a
drunken bastard who picked up an accent, deliberately or not, and
purposely uses it when drinking. The motive behind a talent type
drinking accent varies. Stutterers tend to use them, along with shy
people who use it to start conversations. A certain amount of arseholes
will use a talent type drinking accent to pick up the ladies by lying
about where they're from.
I have a talent type drinking accent myself. I use mine to start
conversations and cover up a bad TH sound. I'm always honest about
where I'm from.
If you have a talent type drinking accent, don't abuse it by lying.
Q: How rare is the talent type drinking accent?
A: Apparently, quite rare. The only ones who'd use it most likely are
actors and stutterers. Actors never seem to do it. Only a small
handful of stutterers do accents, drinking or not. My guess is that
one out of at least 10,000 have a talent type drinking accent.

I have another type of drunk accent.My kind is the type i pick up when im
drunk with someone that has a accent.as the drunkin night (or afternoon)
proceeds i pick some one elses accent.Be it a New York,Enlish or Hindu accent
after somany drinks there i go. Most have found it funny, I have never had it
happen when the other person felt insulted.
