Hi! Thanks for stopping by.
My name is Yara Simón. I am a Miami-born Nica-Cubana living in Los Angeles. I’m an editor, copyeditor, proofreader (knowledgeable in AP Style and Chicago Manual of Style) and freelance content marketing writer with a decade of journalism experience. I specialize in Latinx culture, entrepreneurship and social justice issues. I have a track record of thoughtfully covering kick-ass women, underrepresented communities and small business owners. My work has appeared on MasterClass, Refinery29, Latino Leaders Magazine, Remezcla, Latina and more. I have also created content for Wells Fargo, HBO, Amtrak, Ulta and HBO.
While I’m not a fan of the Oxford comma, I am accustomed to using it in my writing (not on this website, though!). I’m currently working on self-publishing books about Central America for my small business, La Joya Nicoya.
When I’m not writing or reading (check out what I’m reading here), I am watching just about anything, but especially musicals and heartwarming shows.
I attended the University of Florida, but sorry, I won’t ever respond to a Gator chomp because it’s pretty goofy.
I am available for writing or ghostwriting opportunities. Email me at yara @ yarasimon dot com.
