These are 16A which is why I bought them. That is a VERY important value.

Assuming that you, the reader, is purchasing a smart plug in this price range, a lot of them won't be cUL listed, CSA certified, etc. anyways. However...

Most circuits (in Canada at least) are 15A circuits. A lot of smart plugs are only rated for 10A. This means that it is possible to push more power through the plug than it can handle, which not only is illegal but also increases risk of fire.

These are rated for 16A which, if accurate, means for 99% of people, these will be safe to use out-of-box. It is a very important value and even though the vast majority of cases where a 10A plug is used will result in nothing going wrong, it is still smart (and illegal/dangerous not to) to use one that's rated for your intended use. Especially if this is used to switch a kettle or coffee maker on/off.

Quite favourable in terms of price and performance

I wanted some smart plugs to be able to power cycle some wired cameras if they went down and I purchased this and the mini circular ones after doing some research. In particular, a non-Amazon review I read showed the Teckin's to be quite favourable in terms of price and performance so I went with them.

The most important difference between these ones and the circular ones is that these ones can handle higher max amps (16a vs 10a). Translated to wattage, it means the smaller circular ones can handle a maximum of 1200 watts and these ones can handle a maximum of 1920 watts using the formula of volts x amps = watts with voltage being 120v for North America. Obviously you don't want to run close to the maximum rated wattage / amperage or you will risk overloading the plug which could be a fire hazard so it's extremely important that you make your purchase based on the type of device you plan on controlling.

These ones allow you to monitor the devices current, power, voltage and power consumption in kWh in real time as well as keep a monthly total of kWh which may be handy for some. The circular ones do not have this feature.

Another difference between these ones and the circular ones is that they're not quite as tall as the round ones meaning there is a little more room to plug in a second item into the wall. The round ones barely leave enough room to plug a small 2 prong plug such as a lamp into the second outlet whereas you can get away with plugging something a little bit larger into the second outlet with these ones which is nice. Do note that although having a bit more clearance than the round ones, they still do not provide enough clearance to use one on top of another out of the same wall panel.

Setting these guys up was super easy. Just plug it into the wall, download the app using your phone connected to your home wifi and follow the instructions.

As expected, everything works great and if one of my wired cameras goes offline and needs to be power cycled, I can do it remotely now. I also plan on connecting it to a lamp so when I'm on holidays, I can turn the lamp on and have it automatically shut off after a couple of hours as the app has a timer feature on it too.

CONCLUSION

Overall, I am quite pleased with these plugs.

PROS
* Easy to set up
* Smart life app used to control plugs is third party and supports many different types / brands of smart devices
* Firmware updates! I've seen firmware updates since purchasing them indicating the company is committed to supporting their product
* Ability to monitor the devices current, power, voltage and power consumption in kWh in real time and keeps track of monthly totals of power consumption (circular ones can't do this)
* Supports higher amps vs circular plugs
* Takes up a bit less space than the circular plugs allowing a bit more room for a 2 prong device to be plugged into the second outlet from the same wall panel

CONS

* Not enough clearance to stack two one on top of each other from the same wall panel
* Only has enough clearance to plug a 2 prong device into the second outlet from the same wall panel
* If the company goes under and their web service stops, these smart plugs will become dumb plugs (which is the case with any smart device)

It works perfectly fine, but to add to Alexa you have to do it slightly differently than the book. First add the Smart Life app, connect through network. Then open Alexa app, go to Skills, then add Smart Life, then it will add the devices directly from that app. Make sure the light is blinking rapidly, if not then hold the power button on the outlet for 6 seconds. The whole set up took 15 minutes.

This unit stopped working. The instructions provided are typical Chinese "microscopic print" . . . totally illegible teeny font size. Why do they continue to do this? I do not have a MICROSCOPE to read their stupid instructions. Then, when contacting the company (apparently in China?) I only received partial replies. Total waste of time.

the plugs came in great package well protected, I like it well protected when it rely so much on wireless connection. setup with app was pretty straight forward. just that another password to write down in case I switch phone when new iPhone comes out. the LED indicator is a plus for me, i'm skeptical on wireless connection cause my router is in the basement. I use the plug on baby monitor, humidifier, and the smart part is lights also turn on after sunset only, my wife turns it on with google home pairing with ifttt to activate the lights together. it's working so far, hopefully future updates if any, will keep it working. hopefully it will integrate with siri in the future.

My 2nd purchase is as good as the first one

It is exciting to see my home electric devices are going to be automated by using a mobile phone app.

With a simple few clicks, I completed setting up 2 different models of intelligent sockets by using “Smart Life” app. The app even updated the firmware automatically.

From there, I can switch on and off centrally with a simple click. For each socket, I assigned a name and connecting function for easy identification. I can even assign these sockets into groups. Then it can be switched on and off manually or by scheduling.

An extra fun feature for model SP20 is it can measure power consumption of the connected devices. The analysis is good to be energy conscious.

I am expecting these small intelligent sockets can change my lifestyles. Very interesting.

These smart plugs are very easy to use, and can work with 3 apps, smart life, google home, or amazon alexa. I don't have an alexa or google home yet, so I synced mine to smart life, then linked it to my google account on my android phone. Now I can tell my phone 'ok google, turn on lights' or turn off, or turn on just one. It's super cool, and I'm sure I will become all the lazier as a result.
