Genetic Algorithms Digest Wednesday, 28 June 1989 Volume 3 : Issue 10 - Send submissions to GA-List@AIC.NRL.NAVY.MIL - Send administrative requests to GA-List-Request@AIC.NRL.NAVY.MIL Today's Topics: - GAs for NNs -- Call for Papers - Papers on GAs and Steiner trees - ICGA-89 Proceedings - GAs for animation -------------------------------- Date: Wed, 28 Jun 89 14:45:45 From: John Grefenstette Subject: GAs for NNs -- Call for Papers The following is abstracted from the Call for Papers distributed at the INNS Conference in Washington last week. The Intl. Neural Net Society (INNS) and the IEEE invite interested parties to submit papers for the Intl Joint Conf on Neural Networks, to be held Jan 15-19, 1990 in Washington, DC. Of particular interest, there will be a special, full-length session of invited an contributed talks on EVOLUTIONARY PROCESSES, including: - Genetic algorithms - The interaction of learning, development, and evolution - The evolution of cognitive processes - The evolution of biological networks You are encouraged to submit abstracts or papers (15 minute talks) on these topics. There will be about six contributed papers in this session. Papers are to be single-spaced and no more than 4 pages long. There are two papers available: Hesser J., Maenner R., Stucky O.: On Steiner Trees and Genetic Algorithms; acc. for publ. in: Proc. Workshop on Evolutionary Models and Strategies, Munich, Germany (1989) Hesser J., Maenner R., Stucky O.: Optimization of Steiner Trees by Genetic Algorithms; Proc. 3rd Intl. Conf. on Genetic Algorithms, Faifax, VA (1989) For copies, just send a mail to maen@dhdmpi5v.bitnet -------------------------------- From: Mark Hughes Date: Thu, 22 Jun 89 11:57:16 BST Subject: ICGA-89 Proceedings This year's proceedings may be available from Morgan Kaufman in the US at $29.95, but if we Brits buy from MK here it will cost us Sterling 50, (ie. $77). We get a bit fed up of these artificial price differencials - can anyone make this point to MK? (I've ordered direct from MK US and paid the extra for surface mail. It's so unnecessary). Mark Hughes -------------------------------- Date: Fri, 16 Jun 89 16:45:42 +0200 From: Renaud DUMEUR Subject: GAs for animation I am a researcher in Computer Science at Univ. Paris 8, and I'm looking for a way to use GAs in order to automatically generate animation scripts for computer synthetized movies. My interests are: - Implementation of GAs on parallel computers (MIMD and SIMD) - Use of GAs for behavioral simulation in biology and psychology. Please, add me to this mailing list! Thanks in advance, Renaud -------------------------------- End of Genetic Algorithms Digest ********************************
